Carlos Alcaraz continued his impressive run at the Mutua Madrid Open on Tuesday, defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets to advance to the quarterfinals. Alcaraz, the world No. 1, won 6-3, 6-1 in just over an hour, showcasing his dominance on the clay courts of Madrid.
Alcaraz started the match strong, breaking Zverev's serve in the opening game. He maintained his lead throughout the first set, hitting powerful groundstrokes and forcing Zverev into errors. In the second set, Alcaraz completely took control, breaking Zverev's serve twice and winning the set comfortably.
"I'm really happy with the way I played today," said Alcaraz after the match. "Zverev is a great player, so it was important to start strong and not give him any easy points. I'm feeling confident and looking forward to the rest of the tournament."
