The Los Angeles Lakers, once led by Darvin Ham, have undergone a coaching change. Ham's salary with the team has now been revealed, providing insights into his financial status.
According to a report by Shams Charania, Jovan Buha, and Sam Amick of The Athletic, Ham earned approximately $5 million per year with the Lakers. This figure sheds light on the compensation packages offered to head coaches in the NBA.
Ham's salary is comparable to that of other first-time head coaches. For instance, Gregg Popovich's annual salary with the San Antonio Spurs is reported to be $16 million. Erik Spoelstra, the head coach of the Miami Heat, is estimated to earn around $10 million per year.
During his playing career, Ham accumulated an estimated $69 million in earnings. Adjusted for inflation, this amount equates to approximately $119 million in today's dollars. As a result, Ham has amassed a significant fortune both on and off the court.
Ham's head coaching record currently stands at 54-47, a 53.5% win percentage. In the playoffs, he holds an 8-8 record.
